Veteran award-winning Polish director Agnieszka Holland (Green Border, Europa Europa, The Wire) tackles the still elusive mystery of the relationship between Franz Kafka’s all too brief life and the outsized continued influence of his small literary output.  Star Idan Weiss won the best actor prize at the Gdynia Film Festival for his performance as the anxious, dreaming, persistently scribbling Franz, whose dedication to a craft that earns him no money and little recognition only serves to infuriate his conservative, overbearing, perpetually disappointed father Hermann (Peter Kurth) and increase tensions within the fragile family.
